Santa vs. god

It's that time of year! I figure that this is a good post to recycle for giggles. Over the next few days, I may repost a few more posts as well for giggles.

Just for fun during the holidays. I got this from a fellow blogee named Daniel Florien. While I have always been atheist, he was at one time a devout christian, so he has quite the unique perspective. I just found this funny really.

Although, if you really examine the mythology, I'd say that Santa has a huge advantage over that god fellow. Santa sure as heck seems a lot nicer. The worst you get from him is having a lump of coal. That god fellow is decidedly much more unpleasant!

And no mention that St Nicholas was indeed a saint. Brilliant.

You are such a stick in the mud...

1.) Santa is LOOSELY based on said Turkish Saint in NAME only. He's MORE closely based on Wotan, and numerous other PAGAN MYTHS...
2.) He's still totally ridiculous and equally as imaginary as said god critter.

How can you say that God does not exist? How can you know that?

Where's your boyfriend Ivan btw?

Well, I think Ivan is in England... Project much of your homophobia? :P

And I don't say that there is absolutely no possibility of some sort of god, just that the one described by the bible is utterly laughable and self contradictory, and cannot exist in the universe, since all the things he supposedly did left no evidence, even though they were of such a magnitude that the evidence would be very apparent. The only logically tenable god is the deistic type, which is not worth worshiping since it's totally removed from the universe, and still begs the first cause in itself (turtles all the way down).

I know, it's a distinction that involves subtleties and intellect, something you severely lack. Maybe when you grow up you'll actually have the capacity to understand. Until then, keep playing with your imaginary friend. Just don't expect me to acknowledge anything that is borne wholly of your imagination.

Is not archeology a science?

Would this explain why deism has all but disappeared as a commonly held, defensible belief system?
